Roots and Rhetoric: A Farm-to-Table Experience

Fallinā for the Trails

Join us for a 2.8-mile walk through the National Arboretum with yoga led by Jahmal, a 200-hour registered yoga teacher.

The Walk Before Hoodie Season Vo. II
Date: Saturday, November 2
Experience a 4-mile walk through Oxon Run, featuring morning movement led by Ed Hardy, founder of Wake the 8 and Millie Harris leading yoga.

Join We BE Walkin' and Chesapeake Conservancy for a fall day on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Ranger-led tour of the visitor center, museum, and Blackwater Refuge trail

Christin is a garden to table educator who teaches the African Diaspora how to grow food in small spaces and take a nature based approach to health and wellness.When heās not cultivating edible landscapes or facilitating community culinary experiences, heās hosting The Afro Beets Podcast. A food and culture show where food and the land are used as tools to explore the African diaspora. Christin earned my master gardener certification from UDC in 2019 and have over 5 years of growing experience in various gardens across the DMV including the Washington Youth Garden located in the National Arboretum.
Tolu Igun (she/they) was first introduced to the urban agriculture movement in 2013 in Detroit where they were born. But it wasnāt until 2020 that Tolu committed to a career in farming wholeheartedly. Now they operate OlaLekan Farm, a destination in the community for wellness, wholesome connection, and education in Upper Marlboro, MD.
Mrs. Ashley Walker is an educator for the state of Maryland. A true pillar in her community she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, helping other entrepreneurs develop ideas for their business, bridging gaps and networking. While in college Ashley worked for numerous companies in the hospitality industry. This where shr found my love service and creating drinks. In 2012 she pitched an idea to earn some extra cash with her good girlfriends. This would be the initial pathway of a journey of lessons about resilience, friendship, loyalty and understanding. Today in 2024 Ashley has re-developed, rebranded, refreshed and renewed her love for service and creating experiences with her drinks.
Wake the 8 DC promotes physical fitness and mental wellness. Wake the 8 DC started in January 2022 with the aim to continue the movement of providing our Ward 8 families and beyond with healthier habits that arenāt normally seen or utilized in our communities.

Mellie Harris is a 200 hour trauma-informed social emotional learning (SEL) yoga instructor and visionary force on a mission to transform lives through the power of holistic wellness. As the founder of BzyBplr (Pronounced Busy Bipolar), she has dedicated her life to empowering individuals challenged by bipolar symptoms and other mood-related mental health diagnoses, to reclaim control of their health and well-being.
Jahmal Clemons
Jahmal is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher who loves being outside! He recently moved to the DMV from Houston and is excited to find, support, and create a community with other folks looking to establish a deeper bond with themselves and the natural world.

Founded in 2022 by Brittney and Esthanette, We BE Walkin' aims to introduce Black, Brown, Indigenous, People of Color to nature, encouraging health and wellness while creating community experiences.
